Best And Worst Of The Summer

This post is sort of random and one I haven't seen before but it's also a post I'm going to find interesting to write and hopefully you'll all find interesting to read. It's going to be what the best and worst fashion moments of summer 2013 are in my opinion; Whether it's the trends, celebrity style, high street or high end pieces; I'm talking about it all. There's been a lot of things I've loved about the fashion of this summer however others, not so much. I'll go straight into it and won't bore you with paragraphs of introduction that are really quite irrelevant.
(Everything written is completely in my opinion and should not be taken to offence.)

BEST

Miranda Kerr.

Although Miranda Kerr has quit her career as a Victoria's Secret model, she most definitely has not given up on the fashion industry itself. Miranda never disappoints when it comes to her immaculate style whether it's on the red carpet or or on the streets, usually of New York, and this summer was no exception. Miranda has been seen on the best dressed lists of many and that is no surprise with some of the fabulous looks she has come up with recently. Her style is very chic and classy but far from boring and she always manages to tick the boxes with the most up to date trends. She is definitely one of my style icons and of many others too including the likes of River Island who have a section on their website of looks and pieces inspired by Miranda Kerr (take a look here).
Here are some of my favourite looks from Miranda-

Flared jeans, a Prada bag and her adorable little boy Flynn; What's not to love?!

I adore this orange and blue together and the clash of leopard print is simply fabulous.
Wow, I wish I looked this chic for the airport.

Mirandas staple cat-eye sunglasses and those gorgeous leopard print shoe clashed again with the floral print. LOVE.

Miranda is obviously loving this cobalt blue colour and as am I, especially on her! The off the shoulder look is so sexy and no one could pull it off as well as Miranda is in this stunning Gucci dress.
Ahh, Miranda at the met gala was just unreal.  For a full description of my opinion on this look take a look at my post on the Met Gala here.

A-Line Skirts.

A-Line skirts have been taking over the high street this summer and I absolutely love them. They're the perfect piece for any occasion and can be worn in any style. They're usually sold for affordable prices if you're buying them on the high street and they do some fabulous colours that are right on trend. They can really give an outfit an edge and are very figure flattering too.
Here are some of my favourites-

Topshop

Zara

Asos

Boutique at Topshop
Mary Katrantzou.

The Mary Katrantzou spring/summer 2013 collection has been seen on many style-conscious celebrities such as Rihanna, Jessica Alba, Elena Perminova, Sarah Jessica Parker, Beyoncé and many more. The S/S13 collection is a combination of futuristic prints and fabrics and as graphic prints are a huge trend this summer, the collection went down very well. The first time I became interested in the S/S13 collection was when I saw Rihannas Instagram post of her in a heavily printed top by Marty Katrantzou paired with some black shorts and nude above the knee gladiators. I was obsessed with this look for quite some time which then lead to the obsession with Mary Katrantzou- especially this collection (I'm also thinking of doing a post on her A/W13 collection which is equally as fabulous).

Here are some of my favourite ways celebrities styled Mary Katrantzou-
Rihanna.

Elena Perminova.

Jessica Alba.

Kerry Washington.

Sarah Jessica Parker.

WORST

Jelly Shoes.

Jelly shoes are something I just can not get my head round. In my opinion they look like something you'd go swimming in and resemble a Croc. I don't mind the sandals that you might wear round a pool or to the beach but I just do not understand the concept of the pairs that are made to be worn as an actual shoe. Sometimes they can be styled to look somewhat okay but I would just never invest in a pair of shoes that are made out of 'jelly'.

The Jelly Shoe.

Geek/Nerd Tops.

I know the geek and nerd tops are a very discussed topic and they really are a love or hate type of thing.  Personally, I am not a fan of them at all. I think they look extremely tacky and I just don't understand why someone would call them-self a nerd or geek. The amount of girls I have seen in these tops is just unbelievable but really, they're nothing special at all. I'm all for tops with catchy slogans or phrases but 'Geek' or 'Nerd' just means nothing apart from labelling yourself as something that in reality you wouldn't want to be called.

One of the many styles of Geek tops.

Rihanna for River Island.

I was looking forward to this collaboration since the day I found out about it and I was so disappointed when it was released. Rihanna is one of my major fashion icons and River Island is one of my favourite shops on the high street so I was expecting this collaboration to be fabulous and right up my street. However, when it was released a couple of months back, it was not at all what I expected. Rihanna's always in edgy and exciting clothes but this collection was the complete opposite. Boring. There was no particular pieces that I thought 'I have to have that' and nothing that I even considered purchasing. It's not that the overall collection is terrible because really it's not that bad; The problem is it's just not that good either. There has been 2 collections released by Rihanna for River Island now and neither of them are anything special. The one thing that they are is expensive. I know it's Rihanna but it's a high street store and I would not mind in the slightest if they were pieces that you couldn't find anywhere else and were unique; But they were selling vest tops for around £25 that you could find elsewhere for a quarter of the price. RiRi I love you but I thought you could do better than this!
Here are a few pieces from the collections-
